Spunky goes to sleep at night with her "Poppa K's" Civitan vest by her bedside.

She found it in the closet and asked me what it was. When I told her, she asked if she could have it so she "can always remember Poppa K". What a funny little kid.

Before going to bed, Spunky kissed me on the cheek and hugged me, and whispered in my ear, "You will never be alone. I will always look after you."

I am in tears.

I have no idea where this stuff comes from, but I am so blessed to have this dear little angel in my life.

So, I was asleep this morning when I was awakened by the sound of her little feet creeping into my room. Then I felt that feeling one gets when they are being watched. I opened my eyes to find those big blue eyes looking into my face and smiling. I smiled back and said,"Good morning sweetie," and closed my eyes again, hoping to drift back into sleep.

She took my hand in hers and held it for a bit, while I continued to keep my eyes closed, and then she whispered in my ear, "You were holding Poppa's hand."

I opened my eyes, smiled at her and whispered "I was?"

She whispered back, "Yes. I got to see him and talk to him but you didn't because your eyes were closed."

I smiled again at the wonder of this dear little girl's imagination and continued to follow her lead with the whispering so as not to break the magic of this early morning "just between us" conversation.

I whispered, "I love you Spunky."

She whispered back, "I love you too Grandma.Now do you know what I'm going to do?"

I whispered, "No. what are you going to do?"

She whispered again, "I am going to get some crayons and paper and draw you a picture, and I don't know why I'm whispering. Do you?"

I lost it and laughed right out loud.

What a dear little girl she is.
